The Office... Ch.2

Tuesday

They all come into work, against their better judgment.
There were no smiles, not really...

The fake smiles pasted on their faces gave them away...
They were scared, frightened out of their minds.

They all believed the lie, they even perpetuated the lie, the multiple lies, the endless lies.

As they went about their business, once again felling very relieved that my Mum came in to work today, they noticed something...
The environment of fear and guilt had escalated since Monday...

My mom asks for time off, this weekend...
Everyone is starting to dislike my mom, but it's their fault.
They won't tell her, no one will tell her!!

As they wondered around, attempting to do their assigned duties, they knew...
They knew, that when the weekend came, the lies...
Oh, the lies would begin the short trip off the pier into the bottomless ocean of truth.

(Stay tuned for more...)

The Office... Ch.1

Monday

There's something going on at the office...
No one will admit it, but its creeping slowly and surely.
They all go about their business like nothings wrong.

The short looks when they think nobodies looking,
The reticence of them, quiet and collected,
No one really acts like that...

They all sigh when my mum's around,
She scares off the impending doom.
They sigh with relief, then turn, so she doesn't see them.

She doesn't know...
They know she doesn't know, yet they don't tell her.
Why? Why? WHY?!?!?
Why don't they tell her?!?!?
She could save them, she sends them away, but if she knew, if only she knew...

As each employee leaves the office, they heave a sigh...
Finally, away, home, safety!
They relax as they walk to the car...
Digging in their purse for their keys, head bent, hands full...

They hear a noise, and jerk their head up...
They look, nothing.
They look again, once more, nothing.

They search frantically for the car keys...
...
...
...
SQUISH!!!
*GASP*
They look once more...
They see a shimmery reflection...
IT'S GONE!
They quickly get in the car, start it, and leave...

(No, not the office you're thinking of.)
(This was brought on by me volunteering at my mom's work. No, her fellow employees don't really act like this.)
